No More Air Passenger Duty For Children Beyond May 2015

In an announcement made by Chancellor George Osborn during the Autumn statement, the Air Passenger Duty (APD) for children under the age of 12 travelling in economy will be abolished from May 2015.

From the following year starting 2016 APD for children under the age of 16 will also be abolished. Additional promises included a cut for the highest band of tax on long-haul flights from next year, limiting it to £71 per passenger from 2015.

For family with two young children travelling to the US next summer, this will reduce the tax bill by £142.
